BLUEPRINT to a circular economy

This website was funded by the BLUEPRINT project, which aimed to initiate the new policies, strategies and approaches required by local authorities to unlock sustainable and inclusive growth opportunities through the transition to a circular economy.

The project was ERDF funded and took place from April 2020 to March 2023.

The aims and objectives of BLUEPRINT were to have:

  • The co-creation of a new model for local authorities to enable them to initiate the necessary policies, strategies and approaches to combine social innovation with the transition to a circular economy.
  • The creation of a new local authority management, monitoring and evaluation framework service to enable local authorities to manage and evaluate their performance based around initiating the BLUEPRINT model.
  • A social enterprise training scheme resulting in a new social innovation service allowing 18 social enterprises to help disadvantaged people to secure work in the circular economy and waste management sector.

BLUEPRINT activities in Kent

We conducted a series of pilots to introduce circular initiatives with Kent residents, including:

The Kent Resource Partnership led on the Flat Bin Store Recycling Improvement Pilot. This project was implemented to see how we could learn to improve recycling rates in flats across the county by interacting with residents and stakeholders.

We then took these learnings and made a range of changes to bin stores that helped residents make the right choices when taking their rubbish and recycling to their bin store. If you would like to read more about this pilot, please click here.
